WATCH: Joseph Muscat Defends Keith Schembri In Heated Parliament Exchange, Says There’s Currently Only One Suspected Killer
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat today said that, currently, no more than one person is currently being suspected of the murder of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Speaking in response to an intervention by the Leader of the Opposition, Adrian Delia, who criticised Muscat’s thanking of former chief of staff Keith Schembri upon his resignation, Muscat responded emotionally.
“I have not been informed at any time that there is not more than one person at this stage being accused of the assassination, with all due respect,” Muscat said to Delia across the room.
“We cannot at this stage, in this way, accuse a private citizen, whoever it is.”
The video was shared online by Adrian Delia following the Nationalist Members of Parliament leaving the room.
“The Prime Minister didn’t have the courage to throw out he who is accused of the assassination of the journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia instead of thanking him. The Opposition is not ready to be an accomplice and for this reason the PN’s members exited Parliament,” he said.
