Prime Minister Joseph Muscat was met with angry cries of ‘mafia’ as he was escorted out of Castille under heavy security this afternoon.

Muscat refused to speak to the press as he walked out of the building, stating that he will deliver a statement in Parliament shortly. The Prime Minister had just left a Cabinet meeting  which resulted in the resignation of Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi and the suspension of Economy Minister Chris Cardona, hours after Muscat’s own chief of staff Keith Schembri stepped down.

The Prime Minister’s car was driven to the steps of Castille and security guards surrounded Joseph Muscat as he walked down the steps and into the vehicle. However, some angry protestors tried to approach the car, forcing police officers to form a ring around it as the Prime Minister was driven to Parliament.
