Watch: ‘Overlooked Realities’- Alex Borg Criticises Budget 2026
PN leader, Alex Borg, took to social media to criticise Budget 2026 for not addressing issues that the Maltese people are currently facing.
Budget2026’s measures were publicly announced on 27th October and included a continuation of measures that were introduced in the past years, as well as new measures including an equity sharing scheme as well as free AI courses for all.
“The budget is there to provide direction and hope. Money isn’t everything, and the budget the government presented in Parliament yesterday overlooked certain important realities of the people,” said Borg.
He went on to highlight several key issues that, in his view, should be prioritised in the Budget to help citizens cope with the challenges they face.
“While I will acknowledge the measures that are good, Budget 2026 has forgotten too many people and failed to address several issues that thousands of Maltese and Gozitan families are facing- including pressure on the healthcare system, the rising cost of living, traffic congestion, and unplanned population growth,” wrote Borg on social media.
