Watch: PN’s Weakness A Danger To Maltese Democracy, PL MEP Cyrus Engerer Warns

Labour MEP Cyrus Engerer has warned that Maltese democracy is threatened by the inability of the Opposition to get its act together.
“Since its days in government, the PN has been divided and has failed to come up with a vision for Malta that people can get behind,” Engerer said on ONE TV’s Paperscan this morning.
“The only thing it excels in is believing that it is superior and that it has a divine right to govern. So long as it maintains these beliefs, it won’t progress and offer an alternative to the government and this is quite dangerous.”

“It isn’t good for a democracy if the Opposition party isn’t credible enough to offer an alternative government. It is really bad for Malta.”
The PN lost last year’s general election by a historic margin of over 39,000 votes, with post-election surveys indicating its popularity has only slipped since then.
Although no MP has openly challenged Bernard Grech’s leadership of the party, there have been some rumblings of discontent.
An article published by MaltaToday yesterday reported that some MPs have confronted him over his “weak leadership” and failure to come up with a vision for Malta.
Do you think Bernard Grech should stay on as PN leader?
