Watch: ‘The Whole Point Of Chess Is To Checkmate The King’ – Vice President Of UoM Chess Club

The Vice President of the University of Malta chess club explained why he, as well as other club members, attended last night’s protest in solidarity with the judiciary.
“We as the chess club thought it would be appropriate to come because the whole point of chess is to checkmate the king,” Andre Farrugia told Lovin Malta in front of the Law Courts in Valletta.
He started by saying “we are not just here as the chess club, we are here because we’re worried about the state of the country.”
Farrugia went on to say that you don’t need to be a member of an organisation to join these political activities, “you can just show up as yourself and that’s enough. It’s showing that you’re interested in how things are turning out”.
“It’s you fighting for your future.”
The protest was organised by GħSL in solidarity with the judiciary after it experienced repeated attacks by Prime Minster Robert Abela and his party.
