Spiteri finished 6th overall out of 11 athletes, completing the gruelling event in a total of 264 hours.
In an emotional tribute, Spiteri dedicated the race to Jake Vella, who tragically passed away while Fabio was abroad for the race.
“His spirit was with me through the entire race,” Spiteri wrote, sharing a photo of himself holding Jake’s picture after his finished.
Fabio had also attached a photo of Jake to his bike, symbolically ensuring they would “ride together.”
During the 422-kilometre run, Spiteri battled through an ankle injury, walking part of the final 142 kilometres, but his determination never wavered.
This incredible feat was also a fundraising effort for animal shelters in Malta, with Fabio aiming to raise €100,000.
