Francesca Curmi Storms To ITF Semi Final And Final In Singles And Doubles
Maltese 19-year-old tennis sensation Francesca Curmi has cemented her place in the International Tennis Federation singles semi-final and doubles final.
And what’s more? She zeroed in on the singles semi-final after getting the better of the tournament’s number one seed Celia Cervino Ruiz, the highest-ranked player in the entire competition.
After losing the first set 6-3, Curmi managed an emphatic comeback, winning the next two sets 6-0 and 7-6.
Her stunning vein of form didn’t end there. Together with Serbian partner Michaela Djakoviv, the two faced off against Spanish pair Lantigua De La Nuez and Parres Azcoitia in the semi-final of the doubles tournament.
A win of 6-2, 6-3 saw the Maltese and Serbian duo pave their way to the final of the tournament.
Curmi is currently participating in the International Tennis Federation Women’s W15 tournament being held in Spain.
Her results came only weeks after making it to the final in an ITF tournament in Monastir, Tunisia.
The ITF is the governing body of world tennis, wheelchair tennis, and beach tennis.
Lovin Malta wishes Francesca the best of luck for the challenges ahead
