Wilfrid Palcy, the 43-year-old inspirational Frenchman who’s running 60 half marathons in 60 European cities in 120 days in aid of a local charity, is headed to Malta to take on the Zurrieq half marathon.

He will be donating all the funds he raises here to the Maltese charity Lifecycle Foundation to help renal patients.

“I am looking forward to doing the Malta leg of my challenge this Saturday as I’ve learnt that Malta has a great history, and moreover the Easter period is perhaps one of the best and most beautiful times to run in Malta,” he said ahead of his trip here.

As part of the Running1000+ challenge, Palcy selected 60 European cities that are designated European Capitals of Culture. He will have run 1,260km by the end of the challenge.

But Palcy is no stranger to challenges like this. 

He is both the founder of Mootivaction, a firm that provides corporate coaching and training, and also a certified trainer of an established method called the Process Communication Model (PCM). 

He’s also completed YESWILLCAN 2016, and in that same year, Palcy ran 52 half marathons in the same number of weeks which took him to countries in the US, Asia, Australia and Africa. 

There’s a reason for his drive however.

“Having lost my tobacco-addict uncle, who passed away too early at the age of 54 due to lung cancer, made me think and focus on the value of our condition. Since then, one of my purposes in life is to promote a healthier life style. Mental and physical energy are two simple elements that can improve our overall health,” he said.

Wilfrid will be running in Zurrieq this coming Saturday 31 March 2018 at 8.30am, alongside runners from Zurrieq Wolves Athletic Club and other athletes from various clubs in Malta. Everyone is welcome to join in and run alongside Wilfrid – if they can keep up.
