Local psychiatrist and member of the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH) Nigel Camilleri has taken to social media to update his followers on his 970km cycle around Sicily in aid of mental health awareness.

Camilleri was joined by five other fellow cyclists to carry out their cycle for a cause.

“Round Sicily cycle 970km, 7300m elevation, 37hrs on the saddle. We worked as one team, helped each other along the ups and downs of the roads, and made our dreams happen. Things only seem impossible until they are done,” he said on social media.

The journey was aimed at promoting ACAMH’s campaign ‘Healthy Body Healthy Mind’ which stresses the importance of physical exercise in relation to mental health. The group cycled an average of around 200km per day, ending their journey in Pozzallo.

“Always to raise importance on positive mental health. Nothing is ever too hard to overcome, seeking out help is a sign of strength not weakness,” claimed Camilleri.

He also encouraged people to donate to the cause.
