Heartbreak For Malta In UEFA Nations League As Estonia Scores Late Injury Time Winner

Malta suffered a bitter result at tonight’s UEFA Nations League Game after Estonia scored a late winner deep into injury time.
Estonia dominated the early stages of the game but Malta was given a shot in the arm in the 14th minute after VAR awarded a penalty for a handball in the box.
However, Teddy Teuma’s shot was a tame one and easily saved by Estonia’s Karl Heim, an Arsenal player who was recently loaned to Championship side Reading.
Things went from bad to worse for Malta when Estonia’s captain Konstantin Vassiljev scored a long-range shot in the 21st minute.

Malta went into the break a goal down but recovered in the 56th minute thanks to a moment from magic from Jurgen Degabriele. Awarded a corner, the Hibernians striker crossed the ball into the box and Heim could only flap at it as it curled into the net.
However, Estonia had the last say after substitute Henri Anier capitalised on a couple of defensive and goalkeeping errors to secure the winner in injury time.
Estonia are now top of the League D group with 6 points, with Malta on three points and San Marino on zero points, and are firm favourites to be promoted to League C.
Malta’s next game is home to San Marino on 12th June before taking on Estonia away on 23rd September.
Do you think Malta can still qualify for League C?
