Former Prime Minister’s Joseph Muscat’s first order of business at the Malta Professional Football Clubs Association has been to rebrand to become the ‘Malta Premier League’.

The agreement to change the name, which happened during a meeting on Wednesday, is in line with other similar associations worldwide. In the meeting, Muscat also outlined the priorities and actions in the months to come.

The MPL has also officially written to the Malta Football Association (MFA) asking for recognition as the sole representative of the Premier League clubs, taking the place of the Premier League Standing Committee.

The MPL will engage in discussions with the main stakeholders, including players, referees, supporters, public, media and authorities paving the way for a transition to a new and more attractive Premier Club as soon as possible after the upcoming season.
