The Malta National Football team will be giving its all in today’s major match against Italy’s squad in Ta’ Qali.

Speaking to press ahead of the match, National Teams Head Coach Michele Marcolini alongside Matthew Guillaumier reiterated the team’s commitment to giving their best during the EURO 2024 qualifying match, set to kick off at 8.45pm today.

“Italy is still a mountain to climb but we will do our best,”  Marcolini said. “It is necessary for the Italian team to win, and this is another reason why we should worry.”

“Luckily, our players do not have any physical problems and the boys are trying to recover in the best way possible.”

“We will not stop and try to play our own game. We know that we have to fight for every ball.”

Saying the team used “a lot of energy in North Macedonia” he said he would only be changing the team’s format “slightly” if needed.

“I have not been here for long, but I am also grateful that the domestic league stops for two weeks,” he said. “I had the possibility to work a bit more with the players but still a week is not a lot.”

With Italy being European Champions, there are no illusions as to how tough a match it’s set to be, though a recent loss against England has buoyed spirits.

“I do not wish to park the bus in the game however at times this is necessary.”
