Malta’s rugby team maintained its perfect start to this season’s Conference 1 South yesterday, defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina by 41-7 at the Hibernians Stadium.

Malta’s James Kirk drew first blood after seven minutes and the team never looked like losing, finishing the first half with a 15-0 lead and ending the second half strongly.

The result came hot on the heels of Malta’s 21-14 victory away against Israel last week and means it is second in its group, behind only Croatia, who have a game in hand.

If Malta wins its group, it will enter a playoff game against the victors of Conference 1 North, with the winner earning promotion to the 2019-20 Rugby Europe Trophy. Malta had made it to that stage last year, but ended up losing to Lithuania.
