Among the standout performers was Aaliyah Gatt, who achieved remarkable results in the women’s category. She lifted 71kg in the Snatch and 94kg in the Clean & Jerk, earning a total of 212 points and setting new national Under-17 records. Her performance placed her third in her group and 8th overall.

Luke Treeby Ward also excelled, lifting a combined 226kg and recording a new personal best in the Snatch. His efforts earned him 269 points, further strengthening Malta’s overall standing.

Making their international debuts, Nathaniel Fenech and Luke Stefan Micallef showed promising potential. Fenech lifted a total of 192kg for 271 points, while Micallef achieved 213kg and 281 points. Both displayed strong composure and determination on the international platform.

The competition served as valuable preparation for upcoming events, including Challenge 210 in Switzerland and the Malta National Championships, scheduled for 15th November at the Marsa Sports Complex.

The Maltese Weightlifting Association credited the team’s success to the ongoing support of SportMalta and the Maltese Olympic Committee, whose backing continues to help young athletes reach new heights on the international stage.

Well done to all!
