Maltese Archers’ On-Point Marksmanship Skills Reel In 12 Medals In Massive Slovenian Event

Maltese archers hit more than a few bullseyes abroad, bringing home three gold, seven silver, and two bronze medals in one spectacular event held in Slovenia.

The competition was sanctioned by a global community of archers – known as Sons of Archery – that boasts over 4,500 archers from 42 different countries.

Every year, one country hosts a four-day European gathering, to which up to 120 archers from different countries gather with the prospect of testing their skill with a bow in various events.

Maltese archers have been attending the tournament each year since 2017 but missed out on two years due to COVID-19-related impasses. Though if their 12-medal haul was of any indication, they returned with quite the bang.

Speaking with Lovin Malta was Ray Napier, the team’s chief whose eyes remain firmly fixed on the prospect of future international endeavours. Among them are the Spanish Bowhunter Championships in October, and of course, the Sons of Archers 2023, to be held in Belgium.

“The team will take a well-deserved rest,” Napier said. “But from there, we will continue to conquer the world, with Europe first.”

“I could not be happier with the team’s performance. They have truly exceeded my expectations and set the bar for the challenges to come.”
