Helene Pellicano, Malta’s tennis phenomenon, made a remarkable comeback yesterday to beat the USA’s Alexandra Yepifamova 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 at Wimbledon’s Junior Championship.

Pellicano had a rough start yesterday, losing the opening set in the first round of the tournament 6-1 , but managed to find her composure and finish the last two sets in dominating fashion, beating Yepifamova 6-3, then 6-4.

Pellicano will be advancing to the second round of the tournament where she’ll face Russia’s Polina Kudermetova today – a tough opponent who only lost one game in her first round (6-1, 6-0).

Win or lose, the 17 year old has surely got a bright future ahead of her. She’s already broken a major record by becoming Malta’s highest ranked player on the WTA list at the young age of 16!

We have no doubt she’ll do a smashing job today. Good luck Helene, we’ll be sipping on some Pimms and eating strawberries & cream just for you!

Pellicano will be playing Court 15 at 11:00 am today.
