Maltese Kickboxer Makes History As He Wins Second World Title In Two Weeks
Keith Azzopardi became the first Maltese kickboxer in history to hold world titles in two different styles of kickboxing simultaneously last night.
Azzopardi was on a high after being crowned World Featherweight champion in Nice two weeks ago, and he was given a chance to add the World Featherweight Full Contact title to his belt.
On home soil at the Corradino Sports Pavillion, Azzopardi faced off against German-Afghani national Qurban Hosseini, and was unanimously crowned winner after five rounds.
After the fight, Azzopardi shared a photo of his two belts, with a simple statement that really said it all: “Two world titles in just two weeks #History.”
Last night also saw Maltese kickboxer Diane Schembri square off against German national Pia Peters for the WKN European Bantamweight pro-amateur title. However, after five rounds, the judges narrowly awarded Peters the win through a split decision.
