Every single person who calls themselves a motorsport fan has heard of the Shelsley Walsh before. The oldest motorsport venue in the world still using its original course, the notably steep course (by today’s standards, at least) is a narrow, winding 914 metre-run has seen exciting championships being consistently held since 1905. This year, there’s an extra dash of orange at the competition… and it comes from the land of white and red.

Sitting behind the wheel of a striking Empire Wraith race car, Maltese driver Zach Zammit has been tearing up the Worcestershire circuit since April when the new season kicked off, but now that he’s had more time to get used to his little beast, the islander is making some serious waves overseas.

Taking part in the 2019 Midland Hill Climb Championship, Zammit has been racing in numerous circuits around the UK since April, and has races lined up all the way till September

Kicking off on the 20th of April at Loton Park, the championship will also end there on 29th September.

Taking his Facebook and Instagram followers on a ride of the multiple practice runs and races around the British Isles, Zammit has been sharing his success story with us all, and we couldn’t be happier.

In the first six rounds of the championship, Zammit and his Wraith impressed with three separate “first in class” results, along with further second, third and fourth placements too. Continuing to place among the top 10 from 100 cars, Zammit’s orange Wraith soon started being featured everywhere.

Last weekend, Zammit returned to Shelsley Walsh for another successful run… where he ended up raking in more class wins and fastest times of the day

Over the weekend, Zach and his faithful Empire Wraith took the class win in both Leaders round, ending another top weekend for the Maltese racing team.

“I feel very lucky to be racing against great drivers but mostly just great guys,” Zammit said on Facebook on Monday following another successful weekend run in Shelsley Walsh.

“This car looks fire and drives great,” the islander continued. And with that cheeky Lovin Malta on the Wraith’s front lip, we have to agree!
