Maltese Women’s Handball Team Crush Opponents In Sicily... Three Times In A Row

They even beat the region's current reigning champions

Three cheers for #TeamMalta, this time in the world of handball! The Swieqi Yobetit Phoenix Senior Women’s Handball team travelled to Sicily last Saturday for three games in a friendly round-robin tournament in Mascalucia... and they won all three!

The team even beat out current reigning handball champions and runners-up in Sicilian handball, the Mascalucia handball team.

“We have been preparing for this tournament for over a month now," coach Andrea Szanto said. "I’m very pleased to see the growing synergy between the women in our first games together."

The wonderteam will now be kicking off the Independence Cup games on the 22nd September in Malta.

The final scores were as follows:

  • Siracusa Arteusa HC vs Swieqi Yobetit Phoenix 16-19
  • Siracusa Arteusa HC vs Messina HC 15-27
  • Messina HC vs Swieqi Yobetit Phoenix 15-20
