“Il-Mixja tal-President” has been launched in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund and will take place on Sunday 30th November.

This year’s walk will start from two separate locations: San Anton Palace in Attard and Paola Square, both departing at 9.15am. Participants from both routes will meet at Blata l-Bajda and continue together towards the Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta.

The details were announced during a press conference at the Kirkop Sports Complex, addressed by President of Malta H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono. Alongside Debono, there was Minister for Sport, Clifton Grima, Opposition Spokesperson for Sport Justin Schembri, SportMalta CEO Mark Cutajar, Enemed Executive Chairman Kevin Chircop and Melvin Bugeja from the National Band Clubs Association.

In her remarks, President Spiteri Debono expressed gratitude to all those involved in organising the annual event, which continues to enjoy strong public support. Speaking before an audience of schoolchildren, she encouraged young people to embrace physical activity for their health and to use their passion for sport as a means to help others.

Minister Grima described the walk as a celebration of “collaboration, volunteerism, unity, solidarity and generosity”- values he said reflect the heart of the Maltese people.

Opposition Spokesperson Justin Schembri echoed these sentiments, noting that initiatives like “Il-Mixja tal-President” send a powerful message of hope and support to those in need.

This year’s edition will also feature the participation of several band clubs, who will accompany walkers from outside Parliament to St George’s Square. Mr Bugeja highlighted how such events strengthen the sense of community and showcase the spirit of solidarity across Malta and Gozo.

Chircop emphasised the vital role of private companies in supporting social causes, commending the President’s efforts to “walk alongside all those in need” who benefit from the Malta Community Chest Fund’s assistance.

SportMalta CEO Mark Cutajar outlined the event’s logistics, inviting participants to make a €10 donation in aid of the fund and collect the official event t-shirt from the Malta Community Chest Fund offices at San Anton Palace, Valletta, or Gozo, as well as from Eurosport or any SportMalta facility. He noted that this year’s edition brings together both sport and culture in a unified show of national solidarity.
