44-year-old former tennis champion and surgeon Marc Gingell Littlejohn has been elected as the new president of the Malta Tennis Federation.

A whole new committee was elected for the governing body during the Annual General meeting last night.

Speaking to Lovin Malta ahead of the election last weekend, Littlejohn had said this was “a one-off opportunity to instigate a radical change which will deliver its promises and propel both sports to new heights.”

“For the first time in 16 years, there is a chance for a long-awaited reform,” Littlejohn continued, saying while he did appreciate the work done by the present committee, he believes that there is a strong need for change which will set the path for an inspiring new era for clubs and athletes..

Running against Gingell Littlejohn was David Farrugia Sacco, who was aiming for another term in office.

Gingell Littlejohn was able to acquire 11 votes against Farrugia Sacco’s eight.

This vote has opened a new chapter for the Federation, ending Farrugia Sacco’s long stretch as president.
