Team Malta Athlete Compete At 2024 Paris Paralympic Games
Malta’s two Paralympians are currently in Paris representing the islands in Para swimming and Para athletics. Team Malta took front stage yesterday at the opening ceremony of this year’s edition of the Paralympics, with one discipline already completed.
Maja Theuma, the Paralympian representing Malta in Para swimming, competed yesterday in the 50-metre Freestyle race. After competing. “Her participation at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games is a result of all the hard work she has put into her training and personal growth, but also to her commitment to increase exposure for the sport and making swimming more accessible to persons of all abilities,” The Malta Paralympic Committee said in a statement shortly after Theuma’s performance. And while Theuma did not achieve a new personal best, she has become a role model for the next generation of Maltese Paralympians.
Antonio Flores, meanwhile, will be representing Malta at the Paralympics in Para athletics. Flores has 15 years of experience locally and internationally in his sport. This will be the 34-year-old Paralympian’s second Paralympic Games. He will be competing in the 100m and 200m ‘T64’ class on 1st and 7th September.
