Teddy Teuma, the Maltese maverick leading a Belgian side to potential Champions League, has issued an impassioned speech to his teammates ahead of this evening’s crunch tie against Rangers.

Royal Union Saint-Gilloise, which counts Teuma as their captain, could make Champions League history if they knock out Rangers in the qualifying rounds this evening.

“Today guys we only need to remember one thing. The luck we have to be here today! Don’t forget where we came from. Myself, I was a delivery man. And today, I have the chance to play a qualification round of the UCL” Teuma says in a video uploaded by the club.

The Belgian minnows, who only achieved promotion to the top tier in Belgian football in 2020, beat Rangers 2-0 in the first leg, putting them in with a massive chance to make it through.

Teuma was the star that evening, scoring the first before winning the penalty for the second.

Still, the team will need to deal with an infamous atmosphere at the Ibrox Stadium and will need to band together to get the historic result.

Ahead of the match, Teuma issued a rousing speech to his teammates.

“Realise the opportunity you have to be here! Nobody believed in you, only you did. So today, we’re going to show that!”

“All of us, we all believe in ourselves and in this group! We’re going to play a big game today guys! So show confidence! And play this game!”

The match kicks off at 8.45pm, soon after Gzira United’s qualifying match in the Europa Conference League.
