Beppe Mangion is only 14 years old but he has already taken a significant step towards achieving his dream of becoming a professional goalkeeper, signing a two-year youth contract with Scottish Championship club Partick Thistle.
“I joined this club because it will definitely help in my development as a footballer,” Mangion told TVM shortly after putting pen to paper on his contract. “I train every morning before school with my personal coach and return to training as soon as I finish school, grabbing a bite to eat in the car on the way to the ground. I then go home to rest, eat, sleep and get ready for another day.”
The youngster, a product of St Andrews’ Nursery, Mario Muscat’s goalkeeping school and the National Sports School, has been training in Scotland for the last three months, originally with Rangers FC. According to TVM, he was close to signing a one-year contract with Rangers but opted for Partick Thistle as the club offered him a longer contract and the chance to continue his studies in Glasgow.
