Valletta FC Could Seal Premier League Comeback With Victory Over Tarxien Tonight
Valletta FC could seal their return to the Maltese Premier League today with a victory against Tarxien Rainbows.
Valletta has been on fire in the BOV Challenge League this season and they currently enjoy a 13-point lead over second-placed Tarxien. They have won 14 out of their 17 games, with their only blemish a defeat to Tarxien in the first round, and enjoy a whopping +31 goal difference.
With five games to go, a victory over Tarxien at the Centenary Stadium tomorrow will make promotion a mathematical certainty.
It is a significant turnaround for one of Malta’s most successful football clubs, which found itself in a major crisis last season. With debts piling up and months of financial uncertainty, Valletta ended up suffering relegation from the Premier League for the first time in its 120-year history.
However, they have turned things around, with new president Claudio Grech overhauling the club’s structure and results on the pitch improving.
