Maltese kickboxer Keith Azzopardi was crowned World Featherweight champion at last night’s World Kickboxing Network championship in Nice.
Azzopardi went up against the French former champion Jonathan Pastorino, but the Maltese pro more than held his own and, after twelve rounds, was unanimously announced as the winner.
He could be heard shouting “World Champion!” as he celebrated his impressive victory in the ring.
Azzopardi posted a photo to social media of himself looking bruised but overjoyed as he held the strap.

Noel Mericeca, founder of the Ying Yang Kickboxing Club also expressed his delight.

Azzopardi and his team will land in Malta at 6pm this evening and are encouraging supporters to greet him at the airport.
