Watch: ‘Bring It On!’ – Neil Agius Breaks His Own World Record As Hardest, Final Stretch Begins

52 hours of non-stop swimming later, Neil Agius has just broken his own record of 125.71 kilometres!

The awesome news has just been confirmed in an update shared by his team from land, but it’s not all easy going for the former Olympian.

“It’s not easy, he’s battling the elements at the moment, it’s probably the hardest part it’s been, harder than the night even,” Wave of Change campaign leader Melanie Vella told Jon Shaw, Bernice Casha and the rest of Malta. “But Neil is going strong, he’s as determined as ever, and the team is with him, as are we!”

Neil had set the world record back in June 2021 when he swam from Linosa to Xlendi, Gozo.

What lies ahead of Neil now is the final stretch of his behemoth 160-kilometre swim, one which he’ll complete alongside Malta’s southwestern coast.
