Watch: Game On – GSSE 2025 Kicks Off With Team Malta In Action Today
The 2025 Games of the Small States of Europe officially kicked off last night with a spectacular opening ceremony at the National Stadium in La Vella, Andorra and Team Malta is ready to bring the heat.
With 108 athletes competing across 12 disciplines, Malta’s campaign gets underway today, following a historic showing at the 2023 Games held on home turf.
Leading the Maltese contingent during the opening ceremony were flag bearers Jared Micallef and Francesca Curmi, two athletes who already have gold medals under their belts.

The Maltese Olympic Committee is aiming high, setting its sights on beating the country’s best-ever result abroad, the 2011 Games in Liechtenstein, where Malta claimed eight gold medals.
With a packed schedule kicking off from 9am today, Malta will be in action across nine different sports.
