Watch: Maltese Jiu-Jitsu Fighter Snatches World Champion Title At Abu Dhabi Competition

Maltese Jiu-Jitsu fighter Selma Cassar absolutely smashed her participation at the Abu Dhabi Championship, coming home with a first-ever World Champion title for Malta.
Selma competed in the World Pro Championship in Abu Dhabi in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which was held just a few days ago.
She won the master one (+30yo) division despite being classified within the master one division (+35) blue belt and just under 55kg.
On the way to her win, she beat two members of the Kazakhstan national team, one on submission, one on points, and an Egyptian in the final, on points, her coach explained.
After securing the Master World Champion, she was promoted to purple belt, which is the instructor belt, by her own teacher, in an emotional and tearful moment.
Selma fights and trains full-time at the Avant-Garde BJJ in San Ġwann.
Winning such a category is undoubtedly the highlight of anyone’s Jiu-Jitsu career, with the championship being regarded at a very prestigious level.
Well done Selma!
