Watch: Maltese Crew Wins Bronze Medal At Offshore Racing Congress European Championship
A Maltese team racing aboard the ELUSIVE II placed third in class A at the 2023 Offshore Racing Congress European Championship Malta. The event was hosted by the Royal Malta Yacht Club, based in Ta’ Xbiex.
ELUSIVE II is a modified First 45 vessel, owned by Maya and Christoph Podesta, which finished just five points behind the tied leaders in class A.
The crew was awarded the Yachting Malta Trophy for being the highest-placed local team in the championship.
“We congratulate the new ORC European Champions and thank all those who have made this championship in Malta so special,” said ORC Chairman Bruno Finzi.
“This event was the result of a tremendous effort made by all volunteers and staff from Royal Malta Yacht Club, the support from Yachting Malta, the time and effort made by the Race Committee, the Jury and all the technical and communications team from ORC. Great job everyone.”
For the past two decades, ORC has also organised annual World and European championships – as well as providing tools needed for thousands of sailors to compete fairly in local, regional and national races and regattas in 45 countries.
