Joseph Muscat warned that Maltese football risks dying out entirely unless changes are implemented to make it more exciting.

“We must understand that football isn’t competing against itself but against Netflix and other forms of entertainment,” Muscat said. “Changing nothing isn’t an option.”

Asked what would happen if the format doesn’t change, Muscat bluntly warned that games “might as well be played at Addolorata Cemetery among the dead”.
