Watch: ‘Abandoned And Visibly Undernourished’ Lions And Panther Found In Naxxar Farm

A farm in Naxxar was reported to have been housing four lions and a panther, which were found to be abandoned and “severely undernourished.”
The Maltese Herald reported that Police and Animal Welfare officers went on site yesterday and discovered the animals in a horrible state.
It was evident that they had been neglected for a long period of time, so much so that one lion was found to have been eaten by the others as a result.
The owner of the animals is yet to be identified. Meanwhile, the big cats are being cared for by the Animal Welfare with police monitoring the area until an appropriate site is found for their relocation.
This event mirrors similar ones in the past that continue to reignite concerns on the ownership of wild and exotic animals and the abuse that’s inflicted on them.
