Watch: Bartolo And Camilleri Say ‘We’re Sorry’ In Satirical South Park Edit
“We’re sorry.”
In light of the recent controversy surrounding Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo and Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri’s abuse of funds, many have taken to social media to voice their colourful opinions.
The controversy started after Standards Commissioner Joseph Camilleri found that Bartolo had promoted his girlfriend (now wife) Amanda Muscat from private secretary to policy consultant at his own ministry, on a €62,000 salary, despite her lack of specialised knowledge or qualifications, which sparked heated debate.
However, architecture-turned-social-commentary page Limestone Jungle, run by Patrick van Schaik, voiced his own opinion in a satirical manner.
In a video uploaded to Instagram earlier today, Bartolo and Camilleri’s faces were edited onto the CEO of the fictional DP company giving a series of vague apologies in increasingly obscure scenarios.
The original joke from South Park was in reference to the response BP CEO, Tony Hayward, gave in relation to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010 to which he simply replied, “I’m sorry,” a comment many took as insincere given the severity of the disaster.
The edit seems to mirror Bartolo’s own apology that was made soon after the controversy came to light, in which he said, “If I slipped up, then I humbly apologise. No one is perfect and the only people who don’t make mistakes are those who do nothing.”
