Watch: ‘Bring It On’ – Joseph Muscat Says He’s ‘Ready For A Fight’ And Has ‘No Doubt’ He Will Be Criminally Charged

Joseph Muscat said he’s “ready for a fight” and is “sure he will win” after the Vitals magisterial inquiry was concluded.

Muscat addressed a press conference at the Excelsior moments ago to denounce the process as a “political vendetta” and reiterate his lack of trust in magistrate Gabriella Vella.

“I assume that I’m going to be charged with something and I’m saying ‘bring it on’,” Muscat said.

“I am in the ring and ready for a fight. I wanted to hang up my boxing gloves four years ago, but if some people want to drag me back into the ring, then I will enter. And once I get into a fight I will win it, not because I’m stronger but because I know that I’m telling the truth.”

Court registrar Franklin Calleja confirmed earlier today that the inquiry requested by Repubblika some four and a half years ago was concluded on 24th April and sent to the Attorney General’s office a day later.

Former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, whose home was subjected to a police search as part of the inquiry, has repeatedly declared he doesn’t trust Vella and has opened court proceedings to remove her from the inquiry.

Prime Minister Robert Abela has suggested the conclusion of the inquiry is being timed to coincide with the MEP and local council elections and warned the judiciary not to engage in “political terrorism” – a point which was echoed by Muscat during this afternoon’s press conference.

Following a separate case instituted by PN MP and former leader Adrian Delia, the courts have already declared there was fraud in three stages of the process.

The three hospitals – Gozo General Hospital, Karin Grech, and St Luke’s – have since returned to the government’s hands.
