Watch: Brutal Street Brawl Involving Large Wooden Plank Erupts In Xlendi Overnight
A brutal public brawl erupted in the streets of Xlendi last night, with footage sent to Lovin Malta showing two men being involved in a fight which also saw both hitting each other with a large wooden plank.
At one point, one of the men can be seen tripping the other with the large plank, before hitting him with it while he was still on the floor. Eventually, as the fight cools down, the plank is thrown into the one-storey balcony of what appears to be an apartment still under construction.
Police received a report of the fight, which escalated from an argument in a nearby apartment, at 7:45pm on Triq il-Puniċi. It is believed that the argument was between three people – two Maltese people and a foreign man.
The situation was controlled by police, with investigations still underway, but while the two men’s conditions are still pending, police confirmed with Lovin Malta that none of them suffered any serious injuries.
Just yesterday, Gozo Shadow Minister Alex Borg called for the state to allocate more resources to the sister island’s police, sharing video aftermath of what seemed to be another street fight, this time in Marsalforn. “Can we keep going like this? When will concrete action be taken?” Borg asked. “We need to give proper and adequate resources to the police.”
