The demonstration was organised by four local NGOs, The Watermelon Warriors, Ġustizzja Għall-Palestina, The Lebanese Advocates, and Moviment Graffitti, in protest against Maccabi Tel Aviv’s presence in Malta while Israel faces genocide charges at the International Court of Justice.

“How can European football operate as usual when such grave accusations are being investigated?” the NGOs wrote on social media.

The protest began at 6pm ahead of the evening match.
