Watch: ‘I Am Proud To Be Maltese!’ Local Designer Walks Around Malta In Five Days As Part Of His Bucket List
25-year-old designer Danyl Azzopardi (@danyllovesdanyl) has officially ticked one huge achievement off his bucket list: Going around our island on foot! 👟
The ambitious walk started out as an idea for a challenge that Danyl wanted to complete with friends as part of a bucket list he had just created two years ago.
“We live here on this small island and how many of us get the chance to say they walked all around and saw it all,” Azzopardi told Lovin back in 2022.
After much anticipation, the project kicked off just last week on Monday 7th October.
Starting off in Valletta, Danyl documented every step of the way on his Instagram, showing his milestones as he walked from city to city making sure to never stray too far from the island’s beautiful coast 🏖️
After just 5 long days, Danyl circled the island and landed right where he started.
“I tried and failed two years in a row. But I finally did it!” he told Lovin Malta, “It took me five days and four nights to finish this journey with around 136km of walking on and off trail as long as I am by the sea, and it was quite the adventure.”
Since 2022, Danyl’s skydived in Genoa and paraglided in Switzerland, so we’re sure the adventures aren’t done yet. With many other items on Danyl’s bucket list, there’s bound to be more achievements coming soon.
When asked what the “Malta Coastal Walk” meant to him, Danyl told Lovin Malta, “Unexpectedly, it connected me back to my roots and reminded me where I come from and how beautiful our island is!”
