Lovin Malta’s official documentary on Daniel Holmes, the Welshman who spent over eight years behind bars in a Maltese prison, is being released this Sunday.

The documentary follows Daniel on his first day out of prison, as a free man.

It follows him from the moment he gets off of his plane in the United Kingdom for the first time in 14 years, where he reunites with his wife in a heartfelt moment, and journeys back home to Cardiff, Wales, his hometown.

Daniel Holmes had never seen his family home before, though he had seen photographs of it. The documentary captures the moments his two young daughters, Rainbow and Blossom, see their father outside of prison for the first time ever.

The tell-all documentary will reveal what life inside Corradino Correctional Facility is like

The emotional documentary gives an insight into what it is like for a prisoner to re-enter society on his very first day out. It also shows the tragic consequences of misguided drug laws – Daniel was sentenced to over a decade in prison for the crime of growing cannabis plants.

Following the documentary, Daniel Holmes will be releasing his debut novel

The book will chronicle Daniel Holmes’ life inside prison, down to the detail. In eight years of prison life, Daniel Holmes saw injustice after injustice with his own eyes, and kept studious journals throughout his time inside.

With over eight thick volumes of notes, anecdotes, and shocking stories, Daniel Holmes’ debut novel is set to show a side to Malta that most rarely see.

Daniel Holmes: The Documentary will be released Sunday, 7th October
