In a five-minute Facebook live video, Karl Stagno Navarra addressed criticism aimed towards the Prime Minister, Robert Abela, following his decision to bring in the 425 migrants housed in Maltese waters.

In a passionate speech, the Labour TV presenter made reference to civil society movement Repubblika – specifically calling their lawyer and Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi – for asking the police to investigate the AFM as well as the Prime Minister for murder following the deaths of five migrants back in April.

He went on to call out those who have gone against the PM, following his decision to bring in the migrants, saying that he is being abandoned in the most difficult of times. With the national economy being in its current state, Stagno Navarra asks his viewers to stop focusing too much on the migrant situation and unite in support for the PM.

Whilst Stagno Navarra stated that we have been “abandoned” by the EU, he acknowledged the aid Malta has received throughout the years, stating that “without the European Union, in this current climate, we would amount to nothing.”

He continued by asking his viewers to refrain from mindlessly accusing migrants of crimes and shift attention back to more pressing matters, primarily the current state of the economy.

Stagno Navarra finished his live stream with a call for unity in support of the Prime Minister, saying how even though “we do have too many migrants, we cannot say that he went against national interest” by taking that decision.
