Watch: Maltese Explorer To Celebrate Turning 48 With 48 Kilometres Across 48 Heritage Sites

Exploration enthusiast, digital creator and former Liquorish 2020 contestant, Conrad Neil Gatt is planning to celebrate his 48th birthday in a unique and educational way.
In his classic athletic fashion, Conrad will be taking on a trek of 48 kilometres around our island, with pit stops at 48 cultural heritage sites along the way.
Starting on 29th January in Birkirkara at 10am, the trek is set to last around 10 hours, ending in Żurrieq.
Titled “L-Istorja Tkompli” (History Continues), Conrad will be documenting his journey live on his social media as well as through the help of local media outlets and also sharing tidbits and information about each site he visits.
During these stops, more information will be provided in the forms of links to videos on Conrad’s YouTube or TikTok where a more in depth explanation was given as well as some exclusive peeks at their interiors.
The scope behind the adventure is to educate and raise awareness for these cultural landmarks, an honourable initiative that Conrad and his team have been hard at work to accomplish, having made significant impact in the preservation of these sites and to combat any vandalism that might befall them.
“We’ve already managed to put some pressure on the respective authorities and work is underway on these sites, but others still need work to be put in,” Gatt explained on Facebook.
The marathon is also a crowdfunding event, aimed at raising money for more advanced equipment to ensure Conrad and his team’s safety during endeavours in run-down places that might house noxious fumes.

“Sometimes you have to enter places that have been closed off for a long time, and some toxic gases can develop in these places,” Gatt continued, “I’d like to invest in this equipment.”
Currently, the fundraiser has raised €350 out of its €2,700 goal. But worry not, there’s still enough time to donate in order for more educational content to be produced.
Good luck Conrad and an early Happy Birthday from the Lovin Malta team!
