Watch: Msida Resident Cussed Out After Attempting To Exit Garage Into Under Construction Street

An Msida resident was faced with verbal abuse from construction workers, while attempting to exit her garage with her two young children.

In light of recent complaints related to pollution from excessive construction, one disgruntled resident contacted Lovin Malta with her own story.

The mother of two, told the newsroom that as she attempted to exit her garage, located next to her apartment complex, she had difficulty due to the ongoing construction in her street.

She claimed that when voicing her frustration and asking for them to clear the road for her to pass, she was met with swears and verbal abuse.

In footage sent to the newsroom, workers can be seen cussing and exclaiming, “we need to work!” The woman also said that prior to the filming, they scolded her that she “comes and goes as [she] pleases,” even instructing her to have her car out of the garage and onto the street by 7am.

She clarified that despite understanding the necessity and having appreciation for the work put in by the workers, it ” is still a safety issue to block access to people’s garage.”

“Why should I have to carry a pushchair up and down stairs and not have access to my garage?” she asked, “What if I had an emergency and needed to leave quickly?”

She added that parking outside of the garage is difficult, partly due to frequent cases of double-parking, but mostly due to the dangers it presents to both the vehicle and her children.

“Say I park my car outside because they’re working, who’s to say my three-year-old doesn’t run into the disorganised street while I’m getting my four month old out of the car plus pushchair, bags etc?” she added.

The woman proceeded to voice her frustration at how “this country talks about families and growth” yet “it’s not safe to walk on pavements with your kids or even cross the road.”

Tensions continue to rise within multiple localities as more stories proceed to be shared from their residents.

Which begs the question:

What exactly can be done to prevent the mental and physical strain construction has left on citizens?
