Another ocean sunfish was spotted in Maltese waters, this time off the coast of Gozo near Xlendi.

Yesterday, marine biologist Alan Deidun shared a clip of the fish, sent to him by John Paul Gregory, where the fin can be seen breaching the water near the boat.

The marine biologist also shared a fun fact about this species along with the video.

“Interestingly enough, one of the common Maltese names for the species is ‘qamar’ (translating into ‘moon’), which contrasts with its English common name of ‘sunfish’,” Deidun wrote.

Have you ever seen a sunfish before?
