Watch: ‘There Was Clearly No Space’ – Malta Public Transport On Viral Video Of Traffic Jam Behind Stopped Bus And Truck
A video which has gone viral over the past couple of days – particularly after it was shared on Facebook yesterday – has led to a clarification by Malta Public Transport.
In the short video, a Tallinja bus can be seen stopped by the side of the road behind a ready mix truck, with a long line of cars behind the two large vehicles. Initially shared on TikTok by user sporttravel0 and reshared on Facebook by anti-irregular migration activist Raymond Ambrogio (who seemed to focus more on the fact that the bus driver was not Maltese), the video also sees the bus driver arguing with an ambulance driver, who calls the Tallinja driver a “fucking asshole” after their heated debate.
Lovin Malta reached out to Malta Public Transport, who – while apologising for the inconvenience caused – clarified some issues from where it was standing.

“The company apologises for the delay depicted in the video,” MPT told Lovin Malta. “Unfortunately, the bus was unable to proceed due to an accident involving third parties, one of which was the readymix truck shown in the video, which obstructed the path of the bus.”
“The bus driver immediately contacted the control room in an effort to resolve the situation, and was advised against reversing with passengers onboard due to safety procedures, as it was also evident that had the bus moved, the road would still be blocked by the readymix truck.”
“The bus would need all the cars to reverse the length of a bus so that it could reverse and move as they were requesting,” MPT explained. “It’s clear that there was no space.”
“There was also not enough physical space for the bus to carry out the requested manoeuvre,” the statement finished. “Consequently, authorities were contacted to assist in clearing the road, and the bus was able to move shortly after the accident was cleared.”
