Watch: ‘They Were Absolutely Phenomenal’ – Maltese Cast And Crew Get Exclusive Shoutout By Gladiator II Producer
We’re still revelling in the success and glory of being the centre point for the insanely well-received Gladiator II, and with comments like these, the hype just does not end.
VisitMalta, the island’s official and most trusted tourism organisation, rolled out a new behind-the-scenes video the same way they rolled out the red carpet for all the Maltese crew involved.
In an interview with Lucy Fisher, a producer on the film, she shared that the production required a massive amount of extras, many of which were Maltese residents themselves.
“We are very grateful to the people of Malta and to the Malta Film Commission,” Fisher said, “Malta is a very beautiful country. For such a tiny population, we hired lots and lots of extras.”
Despite the intense heat, the main cast, the crew and the extras endured it all and were “good sports.”
Having to don heavy woollen robes, togas and replica armour under the scorching sun of the Maltese summer, Fisher said that everyone was absolutely “phenominal.”
“They made everything as easy as they could,” Fisher continued, “They were the ones who rolled out the red carpet. Malta really appreciates everything we did for the country and we felt very welcomed back.”
Despite the film being out for a while now – and doing an insane job in the box office ever since – we’re savouring the rewards of our hard work, especially when they leave such a lasting impression.
