Dozens of construction truck drivers hit the road this weekend to pay tribute to Mark Gauci, the 27-year-old truck driver who tragically lost his life in a quarry accident near Mġarr twelve years ago.

The annual truck rally, held in his memory, saw a long convoy of trucks make their way through several Maltese towns with drivers honking in unison as a mark of respect.

The event also served as a fundraiser for Puttinu Cares, with donations collected in honour of Mark’s memory and to support families battling cancer.

Gauci died after the truck he was driving skidded in the quarry and rolled down a hill. He attempted to escape from the cabin, but the vehicle overturned, trapping him underneath.

The yearly gathering continues to keep his memory alive while raising funds for a good cause.
