Watch: Youth Activist Talks About His Anger In Regards To Jean Paul Sofia Incident
In a discussion with Karl Bonaci, youth activist Miirko Sant, spoke about the anger he has in regards to the Jean Paul Sofia tragedy.
Miirko grew up with Sofia at St. Aloysius college, “I spent practically my whole life with him.”
“The anger I felt the night that Jean Paul Sofia died in that way, and not only that, but the vote that we saw in Parliament in regards to the Public Inquiry, I think that that was a real moment of heartbreak.”
“I think that if what happened to Jean Paul Sofia didn’t, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now…That anger, that I once had, has now transformed into something where I can be of service to the Maltese and Gozitan population, not from a partisan viewpoint but from an honest, sincere and just one because that’s what I feel the population deserves.”
The youth activist said that the thing that angered him the most wasn’t the fact that the Prime Minister and ministers voted against the public inquiry, it’s like he expected it from them, “but I really cried, and I’m not afraid of saying I cried, when I saw the youth in parliament who didn’t have the courage to vote in favour of youth’s like themselves and myself.”
“That’s what really bothered me that night.”
Do you agree with Miirko’s stand on the tragedy?
