Awkward Newspaper Mixup Sees Maltese Man Have Worst Morning Possible
If you’re having a bad start to your day, remember it could always be worse. At around 6:00am Philip Mifsud, a lawyer at Ganado Advocates, received a text from a friend congratulating him on his strongly worded, but well written, piece titled Simon Busuttil Must Go.
In another life, this would have been a sweet start to the morning; the only problem is that, despite The Times printing his photo, Philip Mifsud the lawyer didn’t write this. An ex-MP by the same name did. Oops.
“Obviously, it was a shock this morning” said Philip, “once the article is put out there, the damage is done.” He also told us that The Times has since apologised for the mistake and will be publishing a correction tomorrow. But his shock at the ordeal didn’t stop his friends from having a field day in his official statement on Facebook distancing himself from the piece.
Philip Mifsud (lawyer) also thinks that the newspaper should republish the article so Philip Mifsud (politician) is given due credit “since ultimately he’s the author.”
Thankfully the situation didn’t lead to any repercussions at work as Philip emailed to explain the mixup before his superiors had even seen the news. Whether it will lead to any problems outside of the office is yet to be seen, but hopefully it’ll be nothing more than an awkward start to the morning.
