Many in Malta have their own ways of preparing for the departure of Prime Minister Joseph Muscat – but one of the most questionable men on the island has truly taken the ball and ran with it.
Brian Tonna, a managing partner at Nexia BT – the corporate advisory unit that helped set up hidden Panama companies for Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi among other offshore dealings – has showered praise on the embattled leader who will be resigning next month.
“The best that ever was and that ever will be,” Tonna said of Muscat.
“History will recognize what you have contributed to this country. Never before there was statemanship and leadership that brought the envy of failed pretenders ynwa!”
YNWA is a reference to the popular Liverpool FC slogan, You’ll Never Walk Alone. The comment came under a fiery post by former GWU leader Tony Zarb.
It is believed that Tonna knows who the owner of the controversial Egrant is, yet has refused to name the beneficiary even as expensive magisterial inquiries were being undertaken in that regard.
Furthermore, Nexia BT were the company that had connected the dots between Yorgen Fenech’s Dubai-based 17 Black, and Schembri and Mizzi’s Panama companies via leaked emails.
