The police have confirmed they haven’t arrested a group of men who had physically attacked each other in the streets following a car crash in Tigne’ Point.

Footage published by Lovin Malta shows the men going at each other and resisting attempts of police officers from the Rapid Intervention Unit to restrain them.

However, a police spokesperson confirmed that no arrests were made “as the situation was contained by the police”.

“You may also wish to note that disturbing public peace and order is a contravention,” the spokesperson said, suggesting the people involved in the fight were slapped with a fine.

The incident occurred two weeks ago, when a white Ford Transit van driven by an 84-year-old man crashed into two parked motorcycles near Tigne’ Point before hitting a large construction truck, causing it to flip over and hit another parked car.

According to an eyewitness, the fight started after the construction truck driver told one of the sons of the elderly driver ‘nirraħ imutlek missierek’.
