No Drone Has Broken Maltese Law So Far With 2,700 Registered On The Island

At least 2,700 drone operators are registered with Transport Malta – and none of them have broken any Maltese laws.

The new information about drone use in Malta comes after a Parliamentary Question from Chris Said to Transport Minister Aaron Farrugia.

Malta began upholding the EASA regulations that required drone registration with the state on 31st December, 2020.

In 2022 alone, 950 operators applied to be registered. Drones classified as “toys” or that weigh. less than 250g and do not have any recording facilities do not need to be registered in Malta.

Farrugia noted that no legal passes had been taken so far when it comes to drone use one the island.
